An adult spelling bee to support Reading Camp was held Thursday, November 5 at 5:30 at Lexington’s Christ Church Cathedral. The event raised funds for Reading Camp, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing childhood illiteracy throughout Kentucky.
Unlike spelling bees of your youth, Spell to Read is a spelling bee for adults that offers an opportunity to compete as a team, complete with white boards and the use of “saves” to move your team forward or to keep your competition at bay. This novel event boosts camaraderie among co-workers and friends while raising awareness of the problem of childhood illiteracy in our community and Reading Camp’s efforts to address the issue.
Thank you to our sponsors!
Registration fee: $100 for a team of four or $40 for a team of four high school or college students.
All proceeds directly benefit the work of Reading Camp, making camps available for struggling readers in your community this summer.
