Give the Gift of Literacy This Holiday

We all have so much to be grateful for at this time of year. Topping my list is the privilege and joy of working with children, and our partners, like you, who provide the means to change children’s lives.

Because of your generosity to Reading Camp, hundreds of 3rd-5th graders who struggle with reading experienced for the FIRST time a successful encounter with a book, an introduction to a skill or talent they didn’t know they had, or a relationship with a counselor, teacher or mentor that changed how they look at authority figures, but more importantly themselves. Confidence was built.

Thank you for giving to Reading Camp this year! Your gift touched children’s lives, children like Layla.

“My daughter Layla has struggled with reading for years. Any assignment that involved reading was almost guaranteed to end in tears and reading for pleasure was a distant dream.

She was finally diagnosed with Dyslexia in the 3rd grade. Her third grade teacher recommended her for Reading Camp this summer.

Layla started 4th grade this week. One of the ‘getting to know you’ assignments was to fill out a worksheet about what you enjoy and what you want to do. I was so pleased to see what Layla wrote for her bucket list: ‘be awesome at reading and see the Eiffel Tower.’ Prior to Reading Camp she never would have put reading on her bucket list.

Thank you for giving Layla a love for reading that she never had before!” – Amanda

How many of the gifts that you will purchase this year will last beyond 2015? Your gift to Layla will last a lifetime.

This holiday season, you can take part in changing a child’s life and sharing that joy with friends and family as you honor them with a gift in their name.

Give a gift of infinite value. Girls and boys like Layla will be forever grateful to you.

The Reading Camp Board and I wish you the warmest holiday season and blessings for 2015!
